Meet Sandeep Sharma
Sandeep SharmaFounder & Managing Director
Sandeep Sharma is the accomplished Founder and Managing Director of NorthStar Global Advisory. He brings a unique blend of engineering acumen, entrepreneurial drive, and profound expertise in international trade to his role.
Early career & entrepreneurial roots
Sandeep’s career began in his family’s air-conditioning and refrigeration business in India, where he managed international sales and procurement.
Demonstrating early entrepreneurial spirit, he established a state-of-the-art manufacturing line for producing heat exchangers, supplying to major Indian brands and exporting to Europe. Sandeep completed his undergraduate degree in Production Engineering from Mumbai University.
Expertise in international education
Sandeep later moved to New Zealand, where he pursued a Master’s degree in Business Management and a Master’s in International Relations & Diplomacy.
His journey in international education saw him as the Regional Marketing Manager at the University of Canterbury, responsible for international marketing and business development.
Subsequently, he served as CEO of Quality New Zealand Education Limited, part of the QualityNZ Group.
In this significant role, he collaborated closely with all eight New Zealand universities and key government agencies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFAT), New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, and the Ministry of Education.
This company was instrumental in delivering high-quality New Zealand educational services to South Asia and the Middle East.
Global acumen & advisory role
With experience operating in over 20 countries, Sandeep possesses a wealth of global experience.
Beyond NorthStar Global Advisory’s specialisation in business advice and investments, with a particular focus on the international education sector, he is deeply engaged in wider international relations.
He currently serves as the Chair of the New Zealand Institute of International Affairs (NZIIA) for the Christchurch branch, is a Trade & Strategy Advisor with the India NZ Business Council, and acts as the Strategic Partnership Advisor for Australasia to Global Order, New Delhi.
He actively participates in Track II diplomacy, collaborating with the Asia NZ Foundation and various business chambers including New Zealand Middle East Business Council and others in Canterbury, Auckland, UAE, and New Delhi.
